Job Duties

-Knowledge of principles of assessment and ability to modify treatment approaches based on patients’ response to interventions
-Ability to prepare written treatment plans with objectives and interventions
-Ability to conduct group and individual interventions
-Knowledge of the dynamics and processes of a therapeutic relationship and of group therapy
-Ability to provide therapeutic experiences that assist the patient to utilize and enhance their strengths, improve coping skills, and foster hope
-Effective written and oral communication skills
-Knowledge of professional standards of clinical documentation
-Knowledge of professional code of ethics and the hospital’s ethical standards
-Ability to interact with others in a manner that respects diversity and differences including but not limited to culture, gender, sexual orientation, and spiritual/religious practices.

Minimum Qualifications

-Degree in Music/Recreation Therapy from an accredited college or university
-Current professional certification or eligible within 6 months
-Experience working in a clinical setting
-Experience working with older adults and/or individuals with mental health issues
