Position Primary Purpose and General Duties:
VCU’s School of Social Work is seeking a Senior Financial Specialist to ensure accurate and timely creation, coordination and processing of all activities concerning budget, accounting, auditing, financial analysis, purchasing, and fixed assets for the Shared Services Team in the Office of the Provost.

Responsibilities of this position includes, but is not limited to:

• aspects of a wide variety of budget types;
• financial management of scholarship awards;
• monthly reconciling of E&G, discretionary and overhead indices;
• providing support for the Assistant Vice Provost for Finance & Administration in preparing reports for the School’s budget.
  

Minimum Hiring Standards:

• Knowledge of audit/bookkeeping skills and principles essential.
• Experience in creation and processing purchase orders, journal vouchers, travel reimbursements, and other University fiscal-related transactions is required.
• Experience in spreadsheet maintenance is also required.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively are essential.
• Willingness to learn and ability to follow directions accurately.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service to a diverse population required.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Hiring Standards:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in executive level administrative support in a university setting.
