Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Veteran Services is seeking an experienced Servicemember, Veterans and Families (SMVF) Liaison. The (SMVF) Liaison champions Virginia’s veterans and their families by ensuring access to the benefits, care, and recognition they’ve earned through service and sacrifice. This role focuses on delivering high-impact constituency services—particularly for military spouses, women veterans, caregivers, and military dependents. The Liaison supports efforts to connect military families to essential local, regional, state, and federal resources that support a successful transition to civilian life in Virginia. Core responsibilities include identifying and coordinating outreach strategies, increasing public awareness, facilitating training initiatives, and supporting events aimed at improving the quality of life for military-connected individuals and families.

Minimum Qualifications

• Proven ability to manage multiple clients, projects, and programmatic activities concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with diverse constituencies, including interagency partners and government officials.
• Demonstrated skill in assessing and prioritizing program performance and enhancing service delivery strategies.
• Proficient in using client relationship management (CRM) systems and understanding of database administration principles.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with keen attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
• Experience in designing and delivering training to adult learners, including facilitation of workshops or instructional sessions.
• Deep knowledge of military transition processes (federal and state), including related resources, services, and the impact on servicemembers and their families.
• Thorough understanding of federal, state, and agency regulations and policies governing veteran transition and employment services.
• Ability to contribute to policy development and implementation through collaborative engagement and administrative coordination.

Additional Considerations

Experience in social services, business, public administration, education or combination of education and job experience. research, public policy, public administration, business, or related field or equivalent experience. Additional Considerations: Prior project management or leadership experience. Prior public speaking experience.
