These are the foundational drivers of our success and, as a Supervisor Maintenance, you will play a crucial role in shaping the highways that connect communities and drive progress across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Bryant Area Headquarters is seeking a Supervisor Maintenance to oversee and perform a variety of simple to complex roadway maintenance activities. Supervise a crew and provide technical guidance to crew members performing maintenance activities and equipment operation.
Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Inventory management
Leadership and supervision of work crews performing maintenance and construction activities
Records preparation and management: develop schedules, budgets, and work priorities
Vehicle and equipment operations and preventive maintenance
Emergency operations
Minimum Qualifications
Skilled in the use of computers and software applications.
Valid driver's license.
Skilled in operating and maintaining light to heavy duty trucks and equipment.
Ability to perform manual labor.
Ability to direct, evaluate and train others.
Safety shoes required.
Considerable knowledge of roadway maintenance and construction practices and procedures.
Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications thereafter.
Ability to obtain valid CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment and maintain thereafter. Must comply with DOT and VDOT policies and standards when operating CDL equipment.
Knowledge of inventory practices and procedures.
Additional Considerations
A combination of training, experience, or education in Management, Maintenance, Construction, or related field desired.
DCR Erosion and Sediment Control certification.
Experience supervising others and evaluating performance.
Experience planning schedules and assigning manpower.
Ability to gather data, conduct research and create reports.
Experience overseeing emergency operations activities including snow removal, storm damage, and accident clean-up.
Inventory management experience.
Experience in roadway maintenance and, or construction activities.
