Job Duties

Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Trades Manager I who will provide highly advanced supervision, training, and expert analyses of maintenance and construction systems; perform expert work and supervision which involves overseeing maintenance and construction in the installation, care, and repair of state facilities and equipment; self-motivated supervisor with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment and leadership.

This position will ensure that the requirements of the performance planning and
evaluation system are met and evaluations are completed by established deadlines with proper documentation; oversee, supervise, inspect, schedule, assign, prioritize, and participate in general maintenance, electrical, HVAC, construction, and plumbing work to include preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance and repairs; coordinates work assignments with other supervisors to ensure efficient use of resources; and provides technical expertise; and provide additional duties include “As Directed” which consist of being a team player and assisting PPS in work that may be outside the scope of your normal duties and work hours. (i.e. On-Call, snow removal, transportation,
and etc.).

Minimum Qualifications

- High school graduate or equivalent
- Extensive experience in building and grounds work
- Valid Virginia Driver's License
- Trades License Cards/Applies mastery of skills in area(s) of specialization as demonstrated by; Experience as a Journeyman, Military Equivalence, or extensive Experience (Master Tradesman eligibility requirement)
- Experience in computer, purchasing procedures, and inventory control programs
