Youth Leadership Coordinator - School of Social Work

The National Youth Homelessness Partnership works across sectors and in collaboration with youth and young adult leaders, national organizations and community-based partners to take action on issues that impact the capacity of our communities and nation to prevent and end youth homelessness.

The National Youth Advisory Group (NYAG) & the School of Social Work is looking for a person to work in a part-time, hourly position to support their efforts to move forward action plans in four key priority areas - housing, decriminalization, research & data, and youth leadership & decision-making.


Position Responsibilities:

* Assessing and understanding the broader national movement to prevent and end youth homelessness, including existing and needed cross-sector collaboration to achieve NYAG goals

* Identification and engagement of potential, value-aligned partners to support the work and goals of NYAG

* Identification of opportunities for connection and bridging between and among NYAG action teams

* Asking critical questions to strengthen and enhance the analysis and strategic direction of NYAG and NYAG action teams

* Facilitation of small and large groups to move towards common goals and engage in accountability practices among NYAG members

* Support and enhance implementation of NYAG priorities by tracking progress on deliverables, and providing research and coordination support to action teams

Hourly/Part-Time Position: 5 hours per week, 20 hours per month

Pay: $50/hour

Restricted Position: through April 2026

Required Qualificat ions:

* Experience across different settings and/or fields (ex: child welfare, homelessness, juvenile justice, youth employment) as an advocate or direct service provider

* Experience working with government and nonprofit organizations

* Facilitation and conflict mediation/transformation skills and experience

* Ability to work autonomously as well as in a virtual team environment

* A high level of organizational skills

* Ongoing practices of self and interpersonal development in areas of diversity, equity and inclusion across aspects of identity

* Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU

Preferred Qualifications:

Lived expertise of housing instability or homelessness
