Job Duties

The Head Men and Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Coach is responsible for the continued growth and development of student-athletes within the Cross Country/Track & Field programs. The primary function is to instruct and educate the student-athletes on how to correctly perform and execute each skill and technique which is essential to their success and the success of those programs. Supervise and evaluate assistant coach(s) annually. Assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

This position exists to serve as the Head Men and Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Coach. To create a positive and winning environment in the Cross Country/Track & Field programs while graduating student-athletes. The Head Coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Virginia State University, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and the NCAA.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college.

Must have experience working in an organized Cross Country/Track & Field team environment.

Must be knowledgeable of the basic fundamental skills as well as the ability to provide, leadership, instruction and teach techniques of Cross Country/Track & Field.

Must be able to work in a diverse and team setting while having the ability to attract student-athletes to VSU.

Must be able to drive a van to transport student-athletes.

Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
