Job Description:

Virginia Peninsula Community College is a two-year institution of higher education established as a part of a statewide system of community colleges. It primarily serves the residents of the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg, and the counties of James City and York.

Repair, maintain, and install all HVAC equipment campus-wide, including both Hampton and HT campuses. Perform various other building maintenance tasks, including plumbing and general facilities maintenance tasks, to help establish a safe, comfortable, and conducive learning and working environment.
Minimum Qualifications:

- Progressive experience in a commercial HVAC and plumbing maintenance environment.
- Must possess a Virginia State Journeyman’s Mechanical (HVAC) Certification or be able to possess it within six months of employment date.
- Experience with plumbing systems, values, and backflow prevention devices.
- Must possess a valid Virginia State Driver’s license.

Knowledge
- Knowledge of Commercial HVAC equipment (Trane, York, McQuay, Mitsubishi, etc. Systems).
- Knowledge of HVAC DDC systems (Siemens, Johnson, Trane, etc.)
- Knowledge of plumbing systems and repair
- General knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring.
- Knowledge of local, state, and national plumbing codes.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of various plumbing materials, tools, and equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and standards to prevent accidents and injuries.
Skills
- Proficient in using plumbing and HVAC tools and equipment.
- Effective communication skills.
Ability to:
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings related to applicable systems. - Diagnose and fix plumbing and HVAC issues efficiently.
- Adapt to different work environments and conditions.
- Manage time to complete tasks within deadlines.
- Work independently or in a team environment.
- Work at all campus locations.
Additional Considerations:

Extensive HVAC experience and any related certifications in the trade fields
