Job Description:


Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Library Specialist II will manage campus/college interlibrary loans, the daily operation of the circulation desk, on a rotating basis, supervise collections maintenance, actively participate in technology loaning/assistance, and provide paraprofessional library service for patrons of the Reynolds libraries. This is an essential service contact position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Considerable knowledge of library operations, including general support activities, organization, procedures, and standard techniques.
  • Strong understanding of library functions with advanced-level skills in areas such as collection maintenance, circulation, and instructional support.
  • Working knowledge of key circulation processes, electronic databases, and automated library systems.
  • Proficiency in using automated circulation systems, personal computers, AI applications, and current word processing software.
  • Ability to effectively assist patrons with locating information and to make sound, independent decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to train, guide, and oversee the work of others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evening and occasional weekend hours.
