Job Duties

The New Cadet Navigator is a vital role, serving as a resource and guide to prospective cadets, applicants and their families. This position provides high-quality service allowing prospective cadets to successfully navigate the admissions and onboarding process from inquiry through matriculation by employing a holistic model of care and using the case management approach to new cadet admissions. The New Cadet Navigator serves as the primary point of contact for a prospective cadet – decreasing fragmentation of services and providing quality care across a continuum of admission and enrollment requirements. The New Cadet Navigator keeps prospective cadets engaged about VMI from the first point of contact through matriculation.

The New Cadet Navigator will provide guidance and direction for prospective and new cadets interested in all VMI majors, as well as commissioning and non-commissioning tracks. This position will support prospects from the moment of first inquiry, decreasing the length of time spent from being interested in VMI through matriculation. This is accomplished by: monitoring prospective cadet and applicant progress throughout the admission process, responding to all questions/inquiries, providing information about VMI majors, ROTC program, and implementing a strategic, proactive communication plan that drives prospective cadets to complete each next step in the admissions process.

The New Cadet Navigator collaborates with Financial Aid, Admissions, marketing, and other Institute areas to remove barriers to prospective cadet enrollment, with the goal of a prospect cadet applying to VMI within 7 days of first inquiry. The New Cadet Navigator is not expected to be an all-inclusive content matter expert; however, they will have expertise in connecting with post-wide experts that helps create a cadet-friendly admissions experience.
