Job Duties

Western State Hospital is seeking a part time Rehab Assistant who will assist in the development of and implementation of therapeutic interventions within the psychosocial treatment program. To provide open leisure programming available to all patients of Western State Hospital and provide on-unit programming on admissions units; conduct 4-6 hours of psychosocial rehabilitation interventions per week, according to approved schedules; plan, organize, implement, and evaluate programs for weekend activities on admission PCUs; ensure that interventions are appropriate to individual clients' ages, interests, and abilities as reflected by assessment data; and track patient attendance and participation for weekend programming on admission PCU.

This position will also demonstrate competency as psychosocial rehab facilitator by obtaining passing score on staff competency summary; prepare materials for intervention prior to facilitation and stores materials after completion of intervention; demonstrate openness to feedback by listening, clarifying questions, and asking for suggestions; and manage my daily work schedule to insure being in assigned area prior to the start of programming.

Minimum Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation activities
- Ability to assess needs and plan programs and evaluate effectiveness
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position which requires: repetitious walking; visual acuity to observe and report changes in patient's behaviors on a continuous basis; bending, lifting and reaching overhead to position, restrain, transfer, transport or escort patients and to assist patients to perform activities
