At UVA Health, we're proud to be an integral part of The University of Virginia (UVA). As part of the Outpatient Ambulatory Pharmacy, we work in collaboration with other UVA pharmacies to provide best in class service to our patients! We are a closed door pharmacy, but that does not preclude us from offering excellent customer service while providing medications mailed to patient home, a clinical management program for patients on specialty medications, and prior authorization assistance by our medication access team! Patient Care: You will set up medication orders via phone with patients and/or their families. You will work closely with other members of the healthcare team to assist with insurance rejections, prior authorizations, and copay assistance.

A Technician in this role would perform the following:
Prepares and sends medications to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Demonstrates the ability to competently work in different general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice.
• Demonstrates the ability to competently work in general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice.
• Participates in the training of new employees.
• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.
• Policies and procedures are followed consistently.
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician scope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed.
• Uses appropriate systems for processing of patient information.
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.

• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $20.68 - $32.05 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience: 6 months minimum relevant experience required
License/Certification: Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required. CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required. For team members hired prior to February 1, 2020, certification as CPhT through NHA or PTCB is required by January 31, 2022.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20lbs.
