Description for Candidates:

  • Promote and practice safe work habits while performing basic repairs and services on light, heavy duty, and diesel trucks; road construction and maintenance equipment; hydraulic systems; and electrical components.

    How you will contribute:
  • Diagnose and Repair: Diagnose, repair and complete basic tasks on a variety of equipment types such as tires, brakes, lighting, pumps and valves. Use basic scan tools to read and clear check engine light codes.
  • Maintain Documents and Records : Prepare, process, and maintain required maintenance and repair documentation. Generate documents and work orders in computer system. Perform time and leave entry in appropriate systems.
  • Perform Manual Labor : Prepare, process, and maintain required maintenance and repair documentation. Generate documents and work orders in computer system. Perform time and leave entry in appropriate systems.
  • Preventative Maintenance : Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment according to the preventative maintenance schedule and guidelines.

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

  • Knowledge of general shop procedures.
  • Safety shoes required.
  • Skill in performing light vehicle services and repairs.
  • Skill in the use of computers for research, navigation and communication.
  • Valid driver's license.

  • Additional Considerations:
  • A combination of training, experience, or education in Engineering, or related field desired.
  • Ability to obtain a VSP State Inspectors license within 2 years of employment.
  • Ability to obtain a commercial drivers license.
  • Experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Experience with performing light vehicle services and repairs.
  • Knowledge of general welding practices.
  • Knowledge of laptop and/or hand-held diagnostic programs.
