Job Duties

The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Blue Ridge Regional Office (BRRO), is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Program Support Technician. The Program Support Technician will provide technical and administrative support services to the Blue Ridge Regional Office, and the Air and Land Protection and Revitalization programs by assisting clients, providing word processing services, processing both incoming and outgoing correspondence, maintaining compliance, and permitting databases, and maintaining files. This position also submits administrative forms, including time sheets, in a timely manner according to DEQ and regional policy; and completes vehicle use logs and monthly activity reports within time allotted by agency and regional policy.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of and experience with word processing and report preparation using computers.
• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills to include proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Demonstrated ability to perform a wide variety of secretarial and support functions.

Additional Considerations

• Combination of education or training with experience in multi-line telephone operations and etiquette.
• Current experience working in an office environment performing administrative duties.
• Notary license or the ability to apply for licensure.
