RHHD is currently seeking a Certified Nurse Practitioner Senior. Certified NP Seniors perform patient care as a nurse practitioner with limited or no on-site access to a physician for guidance and oversight. Performs physical examinations, orders diagnostic tests, prescribes controlled substances, may directly perform or direct others to perform nursing assessments, may perform lab tests, take measurements, and develop and implement care plans including the administration of medication and case management. Actions performed at this level require licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner by state code.

This incumbent will be expected to work at our main locations in Henrico County and Richmond City, as well as at our resource centers or other offsite locations in the community as needed. Mileage reimbursement is available for any work-related travel. Typical work hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

VDH requires all Health-Care Personnel (HCP) to provide documentation of immunization or evidence of immunity to the following: hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella; a one-time dose of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine regardless of the interval since the last dose of tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine was administered (Td or Tdap boosters shall be received every 10 years); and the current year's seasonal influenza vaccination.

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensure as a Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Practitioner in Virginia required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of nursing practice and health principles, physical examination techniques and findings both normal and pathological, disease states, diagnostic testing and limits of testing, and pharmacology.
• Ability to perform and interpret physical assessments, obtain medical history, perform and/or interpret diagnostic testing, formulate differential diagnoses and plan of care and provide health education to clients.
• Ability to develop patient management plans; excellent clinical judgement with ability to know the limits of practice and when to seek consultation.
• Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with staff, patients and the public; ability to participate in educational and professional programs.

Additional Considerations

Preferred prior public health or community health with clinical experience in prenatal, STI, family planning, pediatrics and family practice preferred.
Bilingual in Spanish and English
Excellent communication, data interpretation and computer skills preferred.
Experience working with diverse populations in urban and rural communities preferred.
